Colin Campbell

Colin has had a long career, having released several LP's, tapes and singles for both Decca and Lismor Recording Companies. The Royal Albert Hall and The Festival Hall in London are some of the many places that Colin has played his accordion, having travelled all over Scotland and England performing. Colin Campbell and his Highland Band represented Scotland at the Welsh Eisteddfod for two years running playing with Alasdair Gillies, Jimmy Shand, Edinburgh City Pipe Band, The Corries and many others.
Colin and the Highland Band accompanied Alasdair Gillies in over sixty programmes with Scottish Television in the early seventies called "Alasdair Sings". He was also invited to Canada, twice starring on a series called "Ceilidh" which reached number one on the Canadian Network.
During the eighties and nineties, Colin gave up touring with a band to concentrate on playing in local hotels and restaurants such as McTavish's Kitchens in Oban. Colin was also in the resident trio in the Strathspey Hotel in Aviemore for three years.
Colin now lives in Oban with his wife Lorna, they have four daughters and thirteen grandchildren.

In the making of "Men of Argyll", Colin made twelve visits to Dunoon to record and edit with his nephew, Colin Forgrieve, in a small studio which Colin Forgrieve has set up in his house (no fancy equipment here!). Both Colin Campbell and Colin Forgrieve were born in Oban, so are true "Men of Argyll". Colin Campbell selected all the songs and did all the arrangements, whilst Colin Forgrieve handled the technical side as well as providing the second accordion and both piano and drums on backing tracks.

A big thanks goes to Derek and Wendy Chalmers of Chow Productions in Clydebank for all their help.
